EFFN is the world’s greatest association of film festivals related to environmental issues.

In 2002, The International Environmental Film Festival (FICMA) encouraged the Environmental Film Festivals of Italy, Portugal and Greece to create an Environmental Film Festivals Association in order to join forces, to share ideas, to optimize and increase the resources and to create an international prize, the EFFN GREEN AWARD, granted to one of the films awarded in one of the Festivals of the organization.

With the years, the seed has germinated and today, 6 years later, it is a reality, showing the cinema of different continents and countries integrated under the same principle and premise: “the importance of cinema and audiovisual arts in the process of education and social and global transformation”.

In the city of Turin, Italy, on February 2008, the founding members signed the Constitution Act of the Executive Organ of EFFN and at the moment they are elaborating the Statutes under which the organization will govern during the next years.
