Founder, 24 years ago, of the International Environmental Film Festival (FICMA, the oldest film festival of its genre in the world) by passion and conviction.
I am Director and Producer of Documentary Film by choice and studies.
Writer, Photographer and Dreamer by feeling and vital need.
Founder and Director of FICMA Mexico because I believe that culture has no borders, specially between Spain and America.
For already 7 years, FICMA is "the festival" chosen by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) to do touring exhibitions in the 36 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean Area and to be the "audiovisual branch" of UNEP.
Founder of the First Environmental Film Online Archive (with exclusive and free use for environmental education in Catalonia, Spain and Latin America), "The FiCMATECA", because without memory there is no future.
Speaker at several national and supranational institutions such as the United Nations and Universities in Spain and Latin America, issuing Environmental Documentary Construction diplomas at the University of Cali, Colombia, because to socialize and share experiences are the pillars of integral education.
Member of a Jury in more than 25 Film Festivals around the world, because some people trust my judgment.
--> "I am in FICMA because who does not live as he thinks, ends up thinking as he lives"
I started working in FICMA in its fifth edition as a producer. I am a vocational screenwriter and I got educated for it and also to be filmmaker and producer. In 2005 I took over from Claudio Lauria as director to date.
FICMA is a lifestyle not just a job, because it allows me to develop myself not only as a professional but also as a person.
As a professional, the challenge is year after year to pull up the blinds of the cinemas where the festival takes place and offer the best environmental films of last year and make FICMA a meeting point for cinema and planet lovers.
To create activities for all is a challenge that goes beyond the activities themselves. I want to create value in each of the activities and projections of FICMA, so that the child and the adult find inside FICMA a space for fun but also for reflection and knowledge. This is what attracts me most of FICMA.
--> "As a person FICMA allows me to connect with all these positive values and so to create a more habitable, more sustainable and fairer world made by the professionals that present their films and activities and also by the organizations and individuals that work for the environment, and from all of them we learn.
I am proud to be part of FICMA."
I have found in my voluntary exile in Barcelona the vocation that allows me to combine my critical and analytical skills with my passion for spreading and promoting artistic projects, and thereby facing my real personal challenge.
Graduate in Foreign Languages and Literature at the Università degli Studi di Torino (2001), I have developed since 2004 the promotion and management of cultural projects.
I started my activity in the audiovisual sector in 2007 commercializing sports documentaries internationally. I have been selected as a speaker at numerous audiovisual production professional meetings and I have been a member of the jury at national and international film festivals.
I am executive producer and member of the Selection Committee and the Organizing Committee of the BCN Sports Film Festival since it started in 2010.
--> "I am delighted to join the FICMA team in this new edition!
I feel completely identified with FICMA’s mission: make aware everybody about our main duty, which is to preserve our most precious treasure, Mother Earth."
Biologist. Nature connection guide. Artist. Storyteller. Events planner and hostess. Rooted in Barcelona and in the Canary Island of La Palma, and living currently in the latter, a tiny continent bathed in ocean, stars, volcanoes and ancient forests.
Of course, we are all so much more than what’s shared in an introduction like this one. Deeply, we are defined more for where we are doing things from, what is what’s pulling our hearts, than whatever we are really doing in the end. Life, beauty, consciousness. These are my callings, the pulls my heart feels since I was born into this world, and these ones resonate in sync with FICMA, too.
- > I’ve been in touch with the Festival for a few years, and I was volunteering there during 2017. But it’s in this 25th Anniversary when I join the team fully and wholeheartedly, really joyful and eager to take care of the amazing guests we have, and having at my core the idea that is remembering our interconnectedness as human beings, our capacity for empathy and respect for differences, that we will be able to remember our connection with the more-than-human community we belong into.
That we will be able to open our hearts to welcome the whole universe inside.
I have been collaborating with FICMA since its first edition and have been honored with the "Golden Sun". I have always tried to promote this festival from the different positions where I have worked, but mostly I have used FICMA as a tool for communication, raise awareness and environmental education.
I have been lucky to work in several countries, organizations, universities, companies and administrations and I have noticed the evolution of the environment through the themes that each year have been presented by FICMA, and what I find the most important, presented by its protagonists, actors or victims.
These last three years I have completed a Master in Contemporary Philosophy and I have realized that the symbiosis between Philosophy and Ecology is about to open a new dimension to environmental approaches.
--> For sure, FICMA 2016 will show us good examples.
I understood that I wanted to be part of FICMA since I started working in the festival in 2013, when it celebrated 20 years, because my worldview coincided with the purposes of the Festival:
-> “FICMA does not only want to raise awareness and protect the environment but encourages universal values that are necessary today to evolve towards a well-balanced world.”
Born almost at the same time as the very new Namibia, I was raised in the bush where my parents lived as wildlife photographers and filmmakers. I travelled with them in Southern Africa and Madagascar for the first ten years of my life.
The photos and films from my childhood were published and portrayed me close to the San Bushmen, the Himbas and befriending wild animals.
Directing films in the future I wish to help reconnect Human and Animals as I have always known that they were linked from the beginning of time.
My best audience until now and my hope for our future being the children, I am the happy Director of «El Petit FICMA», the children section of FICMA.
I trust the natural wisdom and understanding of children to make an alliance with the animals to create a world where we could all share our planet in harmony.
--> "FICMA gives me a home from where I can pass on to the children the vision of the world I was given to enjoy as a child born free to run in the wild, next to my kin the animals.
FICMA provides me with a family united to share the responsibility of making people change the way they make use and care for Nature, using the power of images."
I known FICMA since its beginnings, at that time I programmed documentaries on TV channels and I was lucky being a member of the jury on several occasions when the Festival was smaller and was held in Gavà or San Feliu. I keep great memories from that time and now I am excited to be part of your team and the new FICMARKET project!
I graduated in Audiovisual Communication at the Universidad Complutense of Madrid and worked for about twelve years as responsible for acquiring and programming documentaries and films on various television channels (Canal+, Studio Universal and Odisea). I have collaborated as a jury in other festivals, among others, Documenta Madrid, Cinema Jove, Festivalito de La Palma and Majadahonda Visual Cinema Novísimo Film Festival.
Since 2009 I am the coordinator for the international documentary market, MiradasDoc Market, which takes place in Tenerife in the framework of the MiradasDoc International Documentary Film Festival. In the last years I have also worked as an audiovisual consultant for public and private companies.
--> For me, Sensibility, Commitment and Passion define FICMA’s team and its philosophy. That is why it is an honor to join it to keep raising awareness about the care of the "Pachamama or Mother Earth", this wonderful living being who with we are One.
Journalist by training and sometimes by vocation, I keep working in media almost 20 years later, combining it with other areas of the communication.
My professional relationship with the environment started with from a report on fishing for the TV channel Euronews. One job led to another and in 2012 I was leading the niunpezporlaborda.org campaign. Thanks to this initiative, I got to know FICMA in 2012.
That year at the festival, we presented the documentary "Hugh's Fish Fight", which launched a digital campaign that made the European Union to change its laws and forbid to throw away fish that could be consumed, just to fulfill some quotas. People mobilized, put pressure and got it!
"Not a fish away" gave me many professional and personal satisfactions, including meeting passionate people like Claudio and Jaume, who work hard on something they believe in.
-> "I was very excited when Claudio called me to tell the media what we will see in FICMA 2018, a global and necessary project I feel identified with. We want to raise awareness among people about what we are doing to our planet."
When the Festival comes I know that I will be meeting a family that hears new ideas, that make questions and above all, from which I learn.
I arrived to FICMA in its 21st edition as a simple itinerant camera and its way of working captivated me; mainly the proposal to look at the other side of cinema. A side that we don’t see in Instagram, Facebook and other social networks, a side that they don’t want us to look but FICMA does.
I am Director of Photography in the film world and a photographer. I started in 2008 and gradually I have been growing and learning from many photographers, art directors, interior designers and filmmakers. Now FICMA gives me the opportunity to be at the front of the audiovisual content and allows me to give my vision to change things and be the connection between the people who want to talk and the people who want to hear.
--> "FICMA brings me a state of mind, a way of living and seeing things."
I am a multidisciplinary professional of communication that started in 2016 the project "Aborixe - Communication for social transformation", collaborating in the creation of new speeches in order to change codes and divert everybody’s attention to initiatives with a strong social or cultural nature.
Trained as a screenwriter and audiovisual maker, I carried out my career in Galicia, Barcelona and Cologne (Germany) getting stuck into any cultural or audiovisual project, in production tasks, video editing, graphic design, script or film directing.
-> "FICMA ... to work in tune with my environmental awareness is what makes it great to collaborate with the oldest Environmental Film Festival of the world!
We are "Projectes a Internet" and we develop personalized web environments. We are small but we like to do great things.
9 years ago we started the "technology" experience with FICMA; a team, people and values we identified with since the beginning and that makes working with them very easy.
-->"If we had to describe our relationship with FICMA in two words, for sure those would be: trust and friendship.
Long life to FICMA!"
My professional career began in the advertising world.
After moving between different agencies I decided to begin a new route, and focused my talents on social media.
Improvising became my routine: create content in unexpected situations.
--> "Improvisation fuels creativity. Its in FICMA's DNA, the window through which we see the world.
The Festival where reality overpowers fiction."
